Wendy McNamara fights for improvements in public safety.
She believes in allowing the Department of Child Services to intervene and serve children who are victims of human trafficking. She is an advocate for requiring individuals found guilty of promoting the trafficking of a minor to register as a sex offender on the Indiana Sex and Violent Offender Registry.
Wendy has slowly revamped the juvenile justice system in order to provide better attention to the needs of incarcerated youth in an effort to prevent recidivism as adults. She has authored legislation that requires the commission on improving the status of children to study and evaluate innovative juvenile justice programs, including juvenile community corrections in Indiana, as well as find ways to invest money locally to address juvenile crime. She has also authored legislation to create a dual adjudication for juvenile offenders that find themselves as both a CHIN and as a delinquent.
She calls for an increase in penalties for criminals who cause property damage while manufacturing meth, and tracking meth-fire incidents in order to combat the issue as well.
She has authored legislation to create the “Blue Alert” system in Indiana as well as legislation to allow law enforcement and other designated individuals to provide emergency tactical medical treatment.
Wendy McNamara is certainly a strong advocate for improving public safety throughout Southern Indiana.
